Rotary International President, Kalyan Banerjee, has chosen ‘Reach Within to Embrace Humanity’ as the theme for this Rotary year. President Kalyan has set a challenging and ambitious programme for the year and a number of new projects will be introduced, including Four Pilot Programmes designed to improve recruitment and members retention, which the Rotary Club of Westminster East has been selected to participate in.

Everything is in place to make this a great Rotary year and President Kalyan and Rotarians’ around the world will be working hard to deliver the ‘Reach Within to Embrace Humanity’ goals. WESTMINSTER:

Westminster lies on the north bank of the River Thames and is famous for its historic and prestigious landmarks and visitor attractions, including Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey, Houses of Parliament and Trafalgar Square, which is home to the famous Nelson Column Lions.

The Rotary Club of Westminster East provides an opportunity to be involved in this vibrant borough, support the local community and network with a wide range of business professionals.

The Club has its foundation on a weekly meeting which includes a two-course dinner and a guest speaker. Additionally, there are other event-based meetings and activities which enable members to learn more about Westminster, its history and community. Information about Club meeting arrangements are available on the FAQ pages.

OUR AIM:

  • build friendships among business and professional persons who share an interest in Westminster and who have a global outlook
  • enrich and educate members through a stimulating speakers programme which incorporates topics of local, national and international interest
  • support local community groups and voluntary organisations through direct giving and philanthropic action
  • widen the understanding of Rotary and its worldwide programme of opportunities
  • foster and facilitate friendships between Rotary clubs in London, the UK and throughout the world.

GET INVOLVED:

You do not need to be a member of the Club to get involved. We are constantly looking at the ways to make it easier for people to engage with the Club and Rotary. Non-members are welcome to all of our meetings, but we recommend that first-time visitors do not attend Business Meetings. Most people’s first contact with a Rotary Club is as the guest of a member, but this is not the only option. There are other ways to connect with us.

As speakers are such a prominent part of Rotary meetings, we are continually looking to add to our speaker bank. Past speakers have included charitable organisations, professionals speaking about their work, people talking about their hobbies and travels, those who have had life changing experiences and those who are promoting an event. If you feel that you would like to speak at the Club, we would like to hear from you.

To achieve our charitable aims we continually review our income generation strategies and are always looking for partners who share our values and who wish to be associated with Rotary. Sponsorship is a great way to support and get involved with the Club. Contact us to discuss the short and long-term opportunities.

Below are some highlights of our current programme:

18 January:    John Vine - Independent Chief Inspector of the UK Border Agency

29 February:    Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson - Individual Success is not always about Individuals

21 March  :    Rikke Rosenlund Jacobsen - ShelterBox

We look forward to hearing from you and welcoming you to the club soon.
